Dear Competitors, Volunteers and Friends,
Nomad Adventure is pleased to announce the venue for the upcoming Eco X-Capade and Eco X-Sprint which will be held Saturday, 27th September 2003. The race will be held in Gua Tempurung, Perak.
Gua Tempurung is a magnificent limestone cave between the towns of Tapah and Gopeng. The race base camp will be at Gua Tempurung visitor’s centre, less than 2 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. When I went to recce it, I was absolutely blown away! I’ve seen show and adventure caves in many countries and I really believe that Gua Tempurung is truly a world-class attraction. We are usually very proud that our race courses go through exceptionally interesting and beautiful environments. We are super excited that this race – our first in Perak state – is going to be our most spectacular ever!
Please also note that there has been a slight change to the event date. The race will be held on Saturday afternoon, instead of our usual Sunday morning. This is because part of Gua Tempurung is a show cave, and an afternoon race will mean that we can have the whole cave to ourselves without hordes of tourists getting in our way. Also there are several other sporting events on Sunday 28th September, so the truly adrenalin-crazed racer can do TWO races that weekend. It also means that we can have an awesome after-race party and camp over on Saturday night! Please see below for cam! ping details.
As we have been having an increasing number of teams from Singapore, we’d like to offer some travel and accommodation services. However as it is hard to ascertain prices without numbers, we’d be very grateful if interested teams could answer some of the questions we have listed in section 9.
We’ve had a lot of people ask us about our Eco X-Treme race (12 to 24 hours long) which has now been scheduled for 13-14th December. We are still hunting for sponsors but we will have an event one way or another! For first time teams, please do note that it’s very important to have some race experience before trying the Eco X-Treme race. So join this race! It will give you an introduction to how evil I can be when I design a race course. Hee Hee Hee!
We are open for entries now! Please register early as there are limited slots. Entry forms available on www.nomadadventure.com.
Have fun out there,
Chan Yuen-Li
Race Director
