Dear Competitors, Volunteers and Friends,

Nomad Adventure is pleased to announce the venue for the upcoming Eco X-Treme and Eco X-ULTRA Sprint which will be held Saturday, 27th November 2004. The race will be held in Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor, the historic site of our Eco X-Treme 2002 Dusk to Dawn race, which received an award from the Malaysian Book of Records for the "Longest Non-Stop Adventure Race".

This race is going to be for teams of 2 persons. We have instituted this change as we know that with the added challenge of a longer race course, many teams have problems recruiting a third team member. Pairs are generally more evenly matched, and this will be crucial to your success for this race.

The Eco X-Treme is going to be an 8 to 14 hour race. The distance will be about 60% of the length of the 2002 race course, but will include lots of new territory. This means that most teams will be able to finish the race even if they hike the whole way, and never even break into a run! It's more of an endurance race, where planning and pacing will be essential. You'll have to be prepared for a long haul, for example by carrying more food supplies, extra batteries and warm clothing.

We are still looking for sponsors for the race, so if you know of any generous souls who would like to contribute cash or goods, do let us know. We will pounce on them immediately, as we have none in hand at the moment.

However we guarantee that it's going to be the same kind of exciting, challenging and safe event on which we have built our reputation. We look forward to welcoming back our regular participants and also those new comers who are keen to learn about the exquisite torture of adventure racing. Remember: "Your Pain is Our Pleasure".

Dates to Remember

From now:
Registration period opens. Teams who submit race entry and payment before 31/10 will be eligible for Early Bird Discount price of RM 400 per team.

Sunday 31st Oct:
Early Bird Discount closes. Team who submit race entry after this date will need to pay full entry fee of RM 450 per team.

Friday 19th Nov:
Race clinic (TBC).

Sunday 21st Nov:
Closing date for entries.

Wednesday 24th & Friday 26th Nov:
Skills testing and equipment check for available teams and participants.

Saturday 27th Nov:
RACE DAY

Adventure Racing Clinics

The adventure racing clinics are for those who want to gain some basic knowledge on how to survive an adventure race. The clinics are not just for newbies. Specific skills that will be tested in the coming race will be taught. Even experienced competitors will learn something about racing. Call or e-mail for price and to pre-register.

Volunteering is a great way to experience the race minus the huffing and puffing! We are looking for responsible and hardworking people who have initiative. If you are willing to do some hiking or have some rock climbing skills, that's a plus, but not essential.
