Perak is the 2nd largest state in Malaysia after Pahang, and is located above Selangor and the capital city Kuala Lumpur. In Malay, Perak means silver, and is probably derived from its former status as one of the wealthiest states in the country due to its tin industry. The state capital, Ipoh, is famous for its silky noodles in soup called "Sar Hor Fun" and Hainanese Chicken Rice. For the thrill-seeking and nature-loving, Perak is home to beautiful limestone cliffs, spectacular caves and lush green rainforests.
