This tour was developed to assist the women from this Orang Asli community to earn extra income by teaching visitors their traditional skills. This relaxed visit allows you to make an authentic connection with people who live immersed in nature. Learn about Semai traditions, way of life and hopes for the future as family members share their knowledge of weaving, blowpipes and outdoor cooking. A refreshing swim at a beautiful waterfall will complete your glimpse into a world that is, sadly, fast disappearing.
Who Are the Orang Asli?
The Orang Asli, literally translated as “Original people” in Malay, are the indigenous people of Malaysia. Anthropological research points to evidence that some tribes have continuously settled this land since prehistoric prehistoric times. There are more than a dozen Orang Asli tribes in Malaysia. The village at Ulu Geruntum, which is at the headwaters of the Kampar River, is a Semai village.

Get to know about local culture in a classic Malay kampung setting while participating is some outdoor cooking and other activities like rubber tapping, panning for tin and various village activities. This can be set up as a team challenge or race for team building, or simply as a leisurely tour.
