Orang Asli Community Tours
Orang Asli Heritage & Traditional Ways
This tour was developed to assist the women from this Orang Asli community to earn extra income by teaching visitors their traditional skills such as shooting a blowpipe, weaving, traditional games and farming. First we will meet the Orang Asli family that will tour with us. Then we’ll take a short hike to their village where we will harvest some tapioca, one of the staples for this community. The family will teach us how to build a fire to then bake or roast the tapioca. While this cooks, we will learn the traditions and life skills that enable this community to live off the land.

The Orang Asli, literally translated as “aboriginal peoples” in Malay, are the indigenous people and oldest inhabitants of Peninsular Malaysia. There are more than a dozen Orang Asli tribes in Malaysia. We will visit with the community of Orang Asli in our Gopeng region.
